The Ortiz Group serves as a lead equity and workforce education & training expert on CalMTA's portfolio, shaping strategic interventions like Room Heat Pumps and Induction Cooking with an equity lens. From standing up the inaugural CalMTA Equity Sounding Board to elevating ESJ community voices through statewide listening sessions, TOG helps ensure market transformation reaches the communities too often left behind.

Emerging Technology
CalNEXT is California's statewide emerging technology program, identifying and testing promising electric technologies across HVAC, water heating, lighting, and more to support a cleaner, more equitable energy future. As CalNEXT's DAC/HTR subject matter expert, The Ortiz Group brings a disadvantaged-community and hard-to-reach customer lens to this research, pilots, and project selection. Electrify My Block
Zonal Electrification Pilot
Electrify My Block (EMB) is a first-of-its-kind Zonal Equity Electrification Pilot testing how entire neighborhood gas zones in Contra Costa County can transition to all-electric service while protecting affordability and building community trust. The Ortiz Group is the day-to-day implementation lead for EMB. From multilingual outreach and home assessments to bill-impact analysis and contractor coordination, TOG turns this new gas-transition model into a trusted, on-the-ground community experience.

Equitable Building Decarbonization
Building Decarbonization
The Equitable Building Decarbonization (EBD) Program, led by the California Energy Commission, is a statewide initiative accelerating building electrification while prioritizing low-income and under-resourced communities. As part of the Northern California implementation team, The Ortiz Group is a major subcontractor shaping both design and delivery of EBD's whole-home electrification work, with a focused impact on single-family and manufactured/mobile homes. Through a customer-centered Single Point of Contact model, TOG guides households from assessment through education, advancing equity and market transformation together.
